There's no way I can face my family, make my ex rue the day he left me, or screw off this work stress without his helping hand.
But what happens when I find myself falling for my fake, paid-for boyfriend? Judging by the comped mozzarella sticks he brought me for breakfast, maybe there's a chance he's falling for me too?

If you are looking for something fun, sexy, lighthearted, just a touch of angst, and full of laughs then Room Service is what you need.Alexandrina "Alex" Harrington is a hard working woman out to prove that she is more than her family's money. She's could be considered the black sheep of the family, but that's a title she's okay with. But her little brother is getting married and her ex is going to be in attendance. So she makes a rash decision and asks the room service guy to be her pretend boyfriend for the weekend. However what first started as a business arrangement quickly turns into something more.
Can something that was supposed to just for a weekend turn into something more long term?
I was pleasantly surprised with this witty debut from Poppy Dunne. It captures you from the start and can't put it down until you've finished. The chemistry between Alex and Ben is electrifying and certainly know how to heat things up. It doesn't hurt that Ben is sexy, smart, compassionate, fun, and an exquisite lover. I especially love all the witty banter contained between the pages, I laughed so much I cried.
I enjoyed the first person POV, the intriguing story, swoon worthy hero, strong willed heroine, and a seductive love affair. I highly recommend Room Service to all lovers of the rom-com and look forward to reading more from Poppy.

I didn't start with Room Service. I actually started out my Poppy Dunne reading list with her wonderful experience in substitute teaching, but I loved it so much, I had to have more. Wild and unusual, Dunne' s characters are unique with larger-than-life foibles and intriguing circumstances. But at no point in her books do I ever feel angst... No, generally I'm too busy laughing my derrier off. This book is not about a woman getting it on with the guy who delivers her late night snack at a hotel. I mean, it is, but it's wayyyyy more, too. It's about a girl dealing with the stress of her family being a bunch of uptight nitwits, while her mother passive-aggressively reminds her of her poor life decisions during the weekend of her brother's wedding. Throw in the ex she would love to see eat his bastard heart out over her, and add the guy who brings her enough food in one hotel delivery to feed a family of four. Oh, and while she's dealing with the fam, she's trying to save her job. Dunne makes me want to high-five the heroine, Alex, so hard. Brilliant job, Alex. Go get your Ben.
I will start with make sure you read my review of "Extra Credit" before you read this review, that is the book I read 1st when it comes to Poppy Dunne's writing ... such a fan. I am so hooked on her style of writing. I do have some many questions though??! Do you think that Poppy is hooked on circus', clowns and everything circus related??! Does any one know? I love nicknames ... Poppy is great like that ... "Alexandrina aka cupcake" ... so so cute!! Ben Williams ... the room service attendant. Be still my heart, a yummy housekeeper ... that is a 1st for me. I did work at a housekeeper in my early college yrs that is hard work, great for exercise but hard work ... biggest tip $50 bucks! Todd (her ex-boyfriend) what a douche bag, such a dork and a real jerk 2!! Wait for it, read the part in the book where they have a private conversation and see what you think of him afterwards, let me know?!! what a JERK!! So many quotes from Poppy's books are the greatest ...
"I manage to shove us through a sea of armpit sweat & overheated perfume" (now if that doesn't give you a great visual you need to step away. girlie giggles!!)

If I ever get to New York, Central Park in the snow I will be taking a horse drawn carriage, OH YEAH!! that is a on the bucket list for sure. I have seen that in several books, movies, etc!! I loved this book, such a great read ... now 'cause it is something I always do.... of the books I have read of Poppy's which is the best. but darn it is that tough ... 'cause they are just that great. I think I am going to have to pick "Extra Credit" 'cause I so fell in love with Amelia, Will Munroe's daughter, she is just too too much, love her!! & just a heads up in Poppy description of "Extra Credit" she calls Will Munroe a douche bag, nope Todd in this book is more of a douche than Will is in that book. Hope that makes sense!! ha. ha!! ( ; Please make sure you read both of these books, so so good. I can't wait to see where Poppy goes with her writing career. so so fun!! Love this ride! ( ;
Room Service is a book that I will remember as one of the loveliest book I've ever read.
I loved the story between Alex and Ben. Alex was spending a lot of time at her hotel room, the only interaction with the outside world was her phone and the guy from the Room Service. One night her mother told her about her brothers weeding, Alex knew that with his strange family and her ex in the same place, she needed someone with her a a plus one. She made a deal with Ben to be her company for the weekend and to pretend to be her boyfriend. The things is that things started to change between the fake relationship and the real deal.
Even if this book it was a short story, I loved Alexa's monologues, it was funny, real and so carefree. Ben not was only a gentleman but a sexy one, I loved the chemistry between them and I can't wait to read more about this author!
